Sifu Andreas (“Sifu Dre”) began his martial arts journey in Germany in 1992, training in Shorin-Ryu Karate. Inspired by his father, a brown belt in the same school, he quickly developed a passion for the art. His early training was cut short when his family immigrated to Canada several years later.
After a 20-year hiatus, renewed inspiration from popular martial arts films such as The Matrix, combined with a strong desire to stay fit and manage his Type 1 Diabetes, led him to return to martial arts in 2015 at Kitchener Kicks.
His love of Kung Fu drove him to expand his training beyond the core curriculum, exploring disciplines such as Aikido and Hung-Gar, while also studying additional Shaolin forms and weapons under the guidance of Shaolin Warrior Monks outside of Kitchener Kicks.
In 2025, after more than a decade of dedicated training, Sifu Dre earned his black sash. He plans to continue training for the rest of his life, with the goal of inspiring others (particularly those living with Type 1 Diabetes) and most importantly, his daughter, now a white belt, to work hard and pursue their goals.
